About Brocket (Hatfield) Diving Academy
(Formerly Beaumont Diving Academy)
The Beaumont Diving Academy was founded at the Stevenage Pool in 1968 in order to improve the diving skills in the County and its surrounding districts. In 1978 a decision was reached with the help and encouragement of the Welwyn Hatfield District council to transfer its activities to Hatfield Swim Center as the facilities with a separate diving pit created better opportunities.
Since the formation of the academy the club has produced many National Champions but its principal level of achievement is having had a total of eight of its member represent Great Britain in five consecutive Olympic Games. Divers also took part in the Commonwealth Games, World Championships and European Events.
Over the past 50 years the Academy have won every Junior and Senior individual National titles from the Springboard and High-board many several times over and have produced over 100 county champions.
Several of the Beaumont Diving Academy members were featured in a book written by Paul Fry titled “Town’s Got Talent” which features the sports stars of Stevenage.
Since the passing of our beloved founder (Derek Beaumont) the club has been renamed Brocket (Hatfield) Diving Academy.
